Building a wooden paling fence can give you privacy and security, at Barbers Sawmill we specialise in timber supply for a range of requirements including fencing materials.

The fence palings produced at Barbers Sawmill is 125×13 cut to 4, 5 and 6ft. We also recommend a 3 rail system 75×50.

For this size, if you require your palings to be overlapping, we recommend 11 palings per meter; alternatively, you can have it side-by-side and will only need 8 palings per meter.

Recommended Method of Nailing Palings

• Palings should not be more than 4 inches (100mm) above top rail
• When using 5-inch (125mm) palings, leave a 2-inch (50mm) gap between the base palings
• Nail base palings once in the middle of the paling
• Place top cover paling over gap. Nail so that the nail misses the edge of the base paling on both sides
• Need to use 3 rail system
• Maximum 2.4 – 2.7 meters between posts
